
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Tuesday received former Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, at the Government House in Lokoja during a courtesy visit.
Ajaka, who recently returned to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was said to have met with the governor to discuss reconciliation, unity, and strategies aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The visit is being viewed in political circles as a significant step toward consolidating support within the APC and fostering harmony among political stakeholders in the state.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Ododo commended Ajaka for what he described as a mature and peaceful disposition, reiterating his administration’s commitment to uniting the people of Kogi State regardless of political affiliations.
The governor emphasized that the development of the state requires collective effort beyond political contests and personal interests, stressing the need for peace, cooperation, and inclusiveness in governance.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the meeting underscored the shared commitment of both leaders to the progress and stability of Kogi State.
