There are politicians, and there are leaders whose lives are a testimony that destiny truly speaks. Rt. Hon. (Prince) Matthew Olushola Kolawole belongs to the second category.
For years, people in Kabba/Bunu asked a simple question: Who is Kolawole, and what exactly does he stand for?
That question was answered resoundingly when he was first elected to represent Kabba/Bunu in the Kogi State House of Assembly in 2015 – and answered again, even louder, when the people returned him in 2019 with a landslide, making him the first person in the history of Kabba/Bunu to be elected twice to the State Assembly.
As a first‑timer, nobody “gave him a chance” to rise. Yet in less than two and a half years, he moved from a floor member to Majority Leader, and from Majority Leader to the 12th Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly – unanimously elected by his colleagues.
That is not only politics, that is grace, capacity and character meeting opportunity.
Before politics, he had already built a life of impact – a successful consultant to government institutions, corporate bodies and international organizations, known for humility, accessibility and friendship across social and political lines. Public office did not change him; it only gave him a bigger platform to serve God and humanity.
As Speaker, he calmed a crisis‑ridden House, restored peace to a once‑troubled chamber, and showed that power can be exercised with calmness, maturity and emotional intelligence.
Colleagues from diverse backgrounds trusted him. National bodies noticed him.
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region chose him as an Executive Committee member for North Central Nigeria, while the Conference of Speakers of State Assemblies elected him as Financial Secretary.
Today, the same man – the “Captain of Empowerment” – is offering himself to serve at a higher level in the House of Representatives.
The same courage that broke records in Kabba/Bunu, the same heart that feels the people’s pains, and the same brain that has shaped laws in Kogi, is now ready to speak for the constituency at the National Assembly. This week, journey with us as we show you not empty promises, but a track record that can be touched, seen and verified – in classrooms, in boreholes, in roads, in lives lifted and in laws passed.
By the end, you will not just know his name; you will fall in love with what he represents, service, stability and sincere leadership.
The time for talk is over. Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu demands a PROVEN WARRIOR at the National Assembly come 2027.
