The Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, fNSM, FRA, led members of the university community to the official groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony of a 1,300-capacity auditorium generously donated by Dr. John Adegboye, an Australia-based medical doctor and proud son of Okunland.
The event, held at the project site, was marked by an atmosphere of joy and renewed optimism, as the university continues its infrastructure expansion to support its academic vision.
Participating virtually from Perth, Australia, the donor, Dr. Adegboye, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the growth of his homeland.
He described the project as a personal expression of commitment to education and community development, adding that he was inspired by the university’s progress under the leadership of the current Vice Chancellor.
He extended special appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for fostering an environment of excellence at the university and to Venerable Rev. Omeiza, who symbolically laid the foundation on his behalf at the ceremony.
The event was attended by principal officers of the university, including the Registrar, Dr. J.U. Amodu; the Bursar, Pastor Mrs. Florence Gbodi Alabi; and other senior officials.
In a symbolic gesture of unity and commitment, the foundation’s edges were laid sequentially: the first by Rev. Omeiza on behalf of the donor, followed by the Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and the Bursar.
In his closing remarks, Professor Eniola commended Dr. Adegboye for his rare generosity and foresight, describing the donation as “a transformative gift that will significantly enhance both academic and social life on our campus.”
