The Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo has admonished the people of the state to embrace unity and support leaders to enable the state achieve the desired development.
Governor Ododo gave the admonition in Okene, Kogi state on Thursday during the three days fidau prayer of his late father Alhaji Momohsani Ododo who died on Monday in Abuja at the age of 83 years.
While emphasizing on unity and support of the people toward government, Governor Ododo stated that Ebiraland land and indeed Kogi state can only develop when the people sacrifices much to foster unity among themselves in the interest of the state.
The governor used the occasion to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his concern and support he often rendered to Kogi state, assuring that the people will reciprocate the gesture at the appropriate time.
“I used this occasion to extend my warmish greeting to president Tinubu for his concern and support to Kogi state. He has been leading from the front, we will continue to give him our support to enable him succeed” he said.
In his speech the former Governor of the state Alhaji Yahaya Bello called on Kogi people to be patient with Governor Ododo to enable him take the state to another level of development
He assured that Ododo’s administration will perform and outshine his performance, noting that the governor’s efforts across the three senatorial districts are practical for people to see.
“It is my fervent prayers that he performed more than I do as Kogi state governor. It is always the prayers of every fathers that their children succeed in life more than they did. Your performance is practical and I am assuring you that this will earn you second term with ease” he said
While eulogizing the late father of Governor Ododo, the former Governor promised that his legacies of discipline, truthfulness, and compassion will be sustained.
In his remark, the immediate past national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje described Governor Ododo as a leader whose quest is to deliver the dividend of democracy to his people.
He prayed to God Almighty to give eternal rest to Ododo’s late father.
Among the prominent guests was the wife of the Deputy Senate President, Hajiya Laila Barau, who visited Kogi State to personally express her sympathy.
She was received at the Obajana Airstrip by the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, accompanied by his wife, Dcns. Magaret Eleojo Salifu, senior government officials, and security chiefs.
Hajiya Barau was not alone in her show of support. She was accompanied by a high-powered delegation of first ladies and women leaders, including:
Hafsat Kollere Buni, First Lady of Yobe State, Hajiya Zara Ribadu, wife of the National Security Adviser, Mrs. Rachel Umahi, wife of the Minister for Works, Hajiya Bilkisu Kyari, wife of the Minister of Agriculture and Dr. Zainab Shinkafi, wife of the Minister for Budget and Planning.
