Some gunmen who kidnapped a driver simply identified as Taofeek on his way to New-Bussa, Niger State have reduced their ransom to five hundred thousand naira.
This was disclosed to newsman  by a family member known as Mr Olojede in Ilorin Kwara State.
Speaking on the latest development through a phone conversation, Olojede said, when the kidnappers called them last on Sunday, they insisted on collecting the sum of #500,000 before they could release him.
Taofeek and some other persons kidnapped along Mokwa road have been in the custody of the dreaded men since the 1st of February, 2020.
The driver who took off from Maraba motor park in Ilorin had nine passengers onboard his Toyota Sharon space bus, but were waylaid by the gunmen and taken into the thick Kainji reserve forest.
Families of Taofeek were later contacted through the victims phone and a ransom of one million naira (#1,000,000) was demanded from them before he could
be released.
Olojede said, though the incidence had been reported to the police but they are still pleading with the kidnappers to reduce the ransom the more so as to secure Taofeek’s release.
“We have been begging them to accept three hundred thousand naira (#300,000) from us. But they refused and insisted they won’t collect anything less than #500,000 before they can release him.
“We have been gathering money and even yet to meet up with the amount they are demanding. We call on government and security agents to please intervene in the situation. This our brother has been with the kidnappers since 10 days ago, we don’t want him to die there”. Olojede said.
