Our resolutions arrived at are: (1) that Ijumu rotational system of traditional, political and social cultural offices had been in existence from time immemorial.
(2) that this principle has been our symbol of unity and peaceful co- existence among us in Ijumu.
(3) That based on this system, past and present Olujumus, social cultural and political offices held had emerged.
(4) That in the year 2014, 2nd August precisely, a summit by Ijumu people was held under the leadership of Prof R.T Tolorunleke, the then National President of Ijumu Development Movement. It was agreed that our rotational principle be maintained and preserved.
Reference: page 159 paragraph 4 of ” Political Transformation in Ijumu Kingdom ”
The existing rotational political arrangement that have engendered peace and harmony in Ijumu over the years should be further promoted and consolidated i.e (the rotation of political offices among the districts and communities in Ijumu).
Therefore the National Executive Committee stands on the above position of Ijumu people as reflected in the summit.
The National Executive Committee admonishes that the ambition of individuals or group of people should not derail or disrupt the peaceful coexistence of Ijumu people.
We therefore appeal that politics in Ijumu should be played with utmost decorum and respect for constituted authorities.
Signed.
National Secretary, Mr. Olutimehin Kunle.
