A Group known as Forum of Christian Youths in Politics, Kogi Chapter says time has come for the State to produce the next Governor of Christian faith in the coming gubernatorial election.

The Forum stated this in a statement signed by its President, Emmanuel O. Adejoh and Secretary, Philips D. Oye after its meeting held recently and made available to kogiflame in Lokoja.

According to the Forum, noted though the two major religions in the State have equal population strength, the Christians have always supported their Muslim brothers because they are more interested in the development of the State, thereby considering religion as secondary.

It observed that since the creation of the State, the Muslim have produced by election all elected governors namely, Late Prince Abubakar Audu, Alh. Ibrahim Idris, Alh. Idris Wada and the incumbent Alh. Yahaya Bello.

The Forum maintained that the time has come for our Muslim brothers to reciprocate this love by supporting a Christian to become the next Governor of the State in 2025

The Forum unanimously agreed that conceding to a Christian will further strengthen the bond of love in the State, noting that the Christians parades eligible qualified politicians that can take the State to greater height.

It listed Christians with Capacity to rule the State to include; David Onoja, Humpry Aba, Obolo Opanachi; Hon. Kolawole Matthew, Senator Dino Melaye, Philips Salawu, Senator Smart Adeyemi, Hon. Abiodun Ojo, Nicolas Ugbane.

The forum called on the Christian Association (CAN) Kogi State to as a matter of urgency begin to sensitize members to lobby for the achievement of this agitation as this is the only way that peace and stability can continue to be sustained in the State.

“the forum praised religious leaders in the State for promoting peace making it possible for harmonious co-existence among all religious groups and appeal for this to be sustained.”

The Forum however commended Governor Yahaya Bello for building a chapel in Government House, describing it as a demonstration that he is a statesman with a great heart.

The forum called on the Governor, to ensure that he leaves behind an enduring legacy of love and unity by handing over to a Christian in the interest of fairness and equity.
