The Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has disbanded the party’s executives in Zamfara State.
Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, the CECPC’s National Secretary, announced the dissolution in a letter to the dissolved Caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Liman, dated July 9, 2021.
The dissolution was effective immediately, according to the letter, which was made available to the newsmen on Sunday in Gusau.
“I am writing to notify you that the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has approved the dissolution of all the party’s leadership organs in the state as a result of recent developments inside the party in the state (ward, local government and state executives).
“This change takes effect immediately,” the letter stated in part.
It further stated that a three-man caretaker committee has been formed to oversee the party’s business in the state.
Sen. Hassan Mohammed is the chairman of the newly formed caretaker committee, which also includes former deputy governor Alhaji Muntari Anka as Deputy Chairman and Prof. Abdullahi Shinkafi, former Secretary to the State Government, as a member/secretary.
The CECPC expressed its gratitude to the disbanded executive committees and urged them to support the party’s new leadership in the state.
Remember that the shift in leadership came as a result of Gov. Bello Matawalle’s defection from the PDP to the APC.
Matawalle was inducted into the APC on June 29 by Mai Mala-Buni, the Chairman of the CECPC and his Yobe counterpart.
Matawalle was also named the APC’s state head, as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
