A joint special operations team comprising personnel from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian Air Force (providing air support), the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), as well as local vigilantes and hunters, has successfully overrun three major bandit camps in Kogi State.

According to press statement issued by the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, the camps, operated by notorious bandit leaders including Kachalla Babangida, were bombarded with superior firepower, leading to the neutralization of scores of bandits through coordinated air strikes and ground engagements. The camps were completely destroyed, while kidnap victims previously held there were rescued.

He said the State Government has moved the rescued victims to medical facilities for treatment. They will subsequently be transferred to IDP camps before being reunited with their families.

Meanwhile, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), has commended the gallantry of the officers and assured them of the State Government’s continued support towards the total elimination of banditry and terrorism in Kogi State.

We urge citizens to cooperate with security agencies so that the ongoing clearance operations can deliver a final blow to criminals disturbing the peace of our state.

The Kogi State Government appreciates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his firm commitment to curbing banditry and terrorism across Nigeria. We also commend the National Security Adviser, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, as well as our local hunters and vigilantes, for their dedication to keeping Kogi safe.

Governor Ahmed Ododo remains resolute and will spare no resources to ensure Kogi State is safe for all.
