The Peoples Democratic Party Governorship aspirant in Kogi State, Princess Iye Grace Adejoh, says her passion to aspire to the exalted office in the state as governor is propelled by the need to get people out of poverty.
Princess Iye Adejoh lamented that furniture makers in Kogi State have now stopped making furniture’s, rather have resorted to making coffins, disclosing that the death rate of the state is in it highest number.
Princess Iye Adejoh stated this in a chat with newsmen at the Kogi State NUJ, promised to secure the wellbeing of Kogi people if elected.
The PDP guber aspirant promised to use her wide contact to harness the resources and potentials that the state is blessed with, lamented that for a state with the best set of people, but lamented their low human capacity, promised to improve the state’s internally generated revenue, agriculture, curb youths restiveness, and drive foreign investment into the state.
She resisted her resolve to put pressure that would make Ajaokuta steel company work, lamented that the state is going through a trial period, but assured that light has come through her aspiration.
The PDP guber aspirant equally lamented the rate of electoral violence in the state, appealed to Kogi people to use their last life line in the forthcoming November governorship election to vote for her whose candidature whose passion is about the people, disclosed that light has gone out of Kogi state, insisting that under her administration, Kogi people would once again live well and achieve their dreams.
The PDP aspirant noted that no part of the world experiences development without the inclusion of women in politics, promised to address the issues of women and children very seriously if elected, says she would put in place an insurance policy for women, as not empowering women in the state would be suicidal.
She described herself as a serious minded person who is always and willing to give her best for the state as a lover of people, says she joined the PDP because of the party’s ideals, promised an inclusive government.
The Dekina born politician, lamented that Kogi people are now people deserving of charity all over the world owing to the lackluster performance of the APC led administration in the state, described PDP as a party that believes in women empowerment, their wellbeing and is friendly to the women folk.
She called for support from the PDP and Kogites to enable her move the state out of poverty, assured that she would if elected make education her administration’s priority, disclosed that when a child is trained, has an future that is assured.
She added that her administration would not just educate the youths, she would put in place a trust funds for the vulnerable and less privilege children who are unable to acquire better education along side children of the well to do.
The Guber aspirant bemoaned the spate of political violence amongst youths, warned against the militarization of the polity, disclosed that 2019 is about the future and life of women, children, promised to run a people oriented government that would cater for all segment of the state.
Princess Iye Adejoh appealed to youths to drop their guns, join her in the crusade to salvage Kogi form the hands of the wicked, insisting that as a mother, woman, joining her in the crusade to better their future, would help create jobs, provide quality living standard, and guarantee a safe place for living. She however urged security agencies to intensify their efforts at retrieving the myriads of arms in the hands of those not authorized to handle them, as a way of curbing political and youths restiveness.
She described failure of government to create jobs, develop human capacity as reasons for political and youths violence, equally added that as part of engaging youths of the state positively, her educational policy would marry capacity development, skills acquisition and up to date technology to engage youths of the state.
If elected, she promised to develop an Information Technology Village in the state like is done in the Singapore and in other countries, this she pointed out would marry vocation to the system of education, added to opportunities that would be achieved through her investment drive.
On the issues of salaries which are not paid as at when due, Princess Iye Adejoh lamented the sufferings of Kogi workers, says the none payment of salaries is a character thing of the individual, said she would set her priorities right to pay as at and when due.
Princess Iye Adejoh thanked women for the support she is enjoying and for inspiring her in the quest to salvage Kogi from bad governance, asked the male political actors to have a shift, take a break and allow women take the centre stage in Kogi governance, insisting that the men have tried their best, though not good enough, having failed, should allow the women folk for whom she represent occupy Lugard House, Kogi’s seat of government.
