The APC Media Monitoring and inspection of Universal Basic Education across the country, has commended Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state for his sustainable development of the sector since he assumed office 2016.
Team Lead, Dr. Tom Ohikere while monitoring some FG UBE schools in Kogi on Thursday in Lokoja, maintained that the state has fared well in infrastructural development of the schools.
Dr. Tom Ohikere, said the team’s mission is to authenticate the claims of the Kogi State Government on Basic Education, saying he was highly satisfied with what he has seen.
According to him , the visit is to enable the Team look at the learning environment, Teachers welfare with a view to carrying out an impact analysis that is critical to the development of Basic Education as envisioned by the APC led administration.
While pointing out that the visit is not for fault finding, but to assist the APC led administration showcase the outstanding achievements it has recorded in the Basic Education subsector across the country.
He maintained that the APC Governors across the states have done excellently well amidst scarce resources acruable to them.
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman, Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board, Alh. Suleiman Ndalaye said the State Basic Education subsector has benefited immensely from the present administration.
The SUBEB Chairman while briefing Newsmen disclosed that Gov. Yahaya Bello has perfomed excellently well in his administration’s commitment to funding Education, particularly the Basic Education Subsector, insisting that the commitment is in human and in infrastructure.
The Executive Chairman disclosed that the present administration has built and rehabilitated several schools across the state, equipped them with furniture , VIP toilets, expressed satisfaction that Basic Education Subsector across the state can now boost of Computer Science Laboratories, described the leadership of Gov. Bello to the Education Sector as a blessing.
The Chairman added that under the present administration, Basic Schools are now equipped with boreholes, sporting arenas, added that the teaching curriculum has also placed more emphasis on entrepreneurship development.
He disclosed that it is the intention of the present administration that after nine years of Basic Education, graduates from the State should be self sustaining, adding that the 6-3-3-4 policy of education is geared towards making graduates stand on their own, appreciated Gov. Bello for the unprecedented commitment to entrepreneurship development in Basic Schools in the State.
The Chairman maintained that he was able to drive the Gov. Bello’s policy for Basic Education with passion, leveraging on his experience as a Former Chairman of the NUT, lauded the present administration’s commitment to Basic Education as one that is unprecedented in the history of the state.
