THE former acting governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarance Olafemi has said that Senator Smart Adeyemi and himself never stole any money as alleged by the embattled Senator Dino Melaye.
Reacting to an allegation made by Melaye that the former Speaker of the Kogi State of Assembly and Senator Smart Adeyemi stole Mopa township road money in 2011, Olafemi on Sunday said he acted as Governor for only 60 days during which he awarded that road along with others spread accross the state when he was only half way to his tenure.
He noted that it is sad that during Dino Melaye’s campaign to “Mopa my home town, Melaye directly accuse me in the palace of the Elulu of Mopa and in some wards in Mopa and alleged that I stole Mopa township road money along side with Senator Smart Adeyemi in 2011
His words “The continuation of such construction then spread over to other regimes which adequate funding became a problem. My 60 days acting was in 2008 and not 2011 as alleged by you. Secondly during the same period of 60 days I established a Special Science Secondary School in Mopa which today is one of the best secondary school in Okun land.
“I also established one Model Primary School and three Junior Secondary School in the same town. Four new transformers were deployed by my regime to the town to replace the aged ones while mopa water work was overhauled within the same period.
“Since I started my political struggles 42years ago starting from UPN to date my fame have being principally due to my grass root base politics. The people of Mopa have always stood by me which make it very difficult for any party that I do not belong to defeat me or my party in Mopa to date.
“If the statement credited to you is correct then it is dirty and unfortunate as it will not in any way further your vote in that town. It is also important to remind you that in 2015 when first contested as a Senator in APC Mopamuro lga of APC got only about 3million naira for that election while PDP spent over 30million for the Presidential and National Assembly election which prompt me as the leader of APC and a BOT member from Kogi West to sell my two adjecent plots in the GRA directly opposite Captain Wada house to support election which you won.
“In 2019 despite the fact that you crudely hijack the ticket for that second election for which a strong hopeful after over 15 months of struggle I was persuaded by the same people who helped you to hijack , not only did I not overlook it I worked for your victory and donated cash of 1million naira directly to Arc Yomi Awoniyi for your election .
“However you still find it appriopirate to castigate me and lie against my person publicly which now add salt to the injury you inflicted on me in securing the ticket. One of the principal reason why I left PDP was the impunity of your Senate. I take consolation in the fact that God says vengeance is HIS and I believe in that.
“I want to urge you to recover the Mopa money you alleged I stole, you don’t need to wait until you return to Senate.
