The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Karimi, has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly attacks on Abugi and Kupa communities in Lokoja Local Government Area, describing the killings and destruction of property as tragic and unacceptable.

In a condolence message issued following the attacks, the lawmaker sympathised with the bereaved families and all residents affected by the violence, while calling on security agencies to take urgent and decisive steps to prevent further bloodshed across Kogi State.

Karimi condemned what he described as the persistent attacks on innocent and defenceless citizens, urging the military, the police and other security agencies to strengthen their operations and complement the efforts of the Kogi State Government in restoring peace to troubled communities.

According to him, the perpetrators of the attacks and their collaborators must be identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The news of another violent attack in Abugi and Kupa by mindless and bloodthirsty gunmen is heartbreaking and unfortunate.
These attacks on innocent citizens are completely unacceptable. Security agencies must intensify proactive operations to apprehend those responsible and ensure they face justice,” he said.

The senator noted that the continued wave of violence is disturbing, particularly at a time when the Federal Government is making efforts to improve security and maintain peace across the country.

He extended his condolences to the victims’ families and all those affected by the incident, stressing that no community should be subjected to such needless violence.

Karimi also appealed to residents to remain united irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences, while encouraging them to support security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities that could threaten public safety.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
