The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and Chairman House Committee on Custom and Exercise, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Yagba Federal Constituency seat, securing victory across all 34 wards in the constituency.

Results collated from Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Local Government Areas showed overwhelming support for the lawmaker as party members turned out in large numbers to participate in the direct primary election.

Political observers described the outcome as a remarkable victory, noting that the exercise reinforced confidence in the direct primary system as a true reflection of the wishes of party members.

The primary election, conducted peacefully across the constituency, witnessed impressive participation from APC members who queued to cast their votes in what many described as one of the most transparent internal party exercises in recent years.

Speaking with journalists after the exercise at Takete Ide/Otafun Ward in Mopamuro Local Government Area, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, commended party members for their orderly conduct and described the process as credible and seamless.

According to him, party members were enthusiastic about exercising their democratic rights to nominate candidates for the general elections, adding that the exercise was peaceful, free and fair across Mopamuro Local Government Area.

Fanwo disclosed that in Takete Ide/Otafun Ward, Abejide polled 892 votes while his only challenger secured just two votes, noting that similar results were recorded across the 10 wards in Mopamuro.

He thanked party members for maintaining peace throughout the exercise, saying their voices had been respected through the process.

Party leaders and stakeholders in Yagba East also praised the conduct of the election, describing the peaceful atmosphere and massive turnout as a sign of the confidence APC members have in Abejide’s leadership and representation.

A party chieftain in Yagba East, Hon. Emmanuel Obaro, described the outcome as a reward for impactful representation and consistent grassroots engagement, adding that the lawmaker has maintained a strong relationship with communities across the constituency.

Stakeholders in Yagba West equally noted that the wide margin of victory reflected party unity and Abejide’s popularity among APC members.

One party official in the area said the results demonstrated the confidence of the people in the lawmaker’s performance and accessibility, stressing that the turnout across the wards spoke volumes about his support base.

Party members who monitored the exercise across different polling centres commended the peaceful conduct of supporters and electoral officials, expressing optimism that the APC would head into the general elections stronger and more united.

The outcome of the primary election is expected to further strengthen Abejide’s position as the APC candidate for the Yagba Federal Constituency seat in the forthcoming general elections.
