Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and the welfare of residents in Bassa Local Government Area, assuring that construction of the Odenyi–Oguma Road will begin immediately after the rainy season.

The governor also pledged to sustain efforts toward the reconstruction of the Shintaku–Gboloko–Dekina Road, a federal highway, through continued engagement with the Federal Ministry of Works.

Ododo gave the assurances on while receiving a delegation of Bassa stakeholders and members of the Bassa Ododo Women 2027 Group at the Government House in Lokoja.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Muhammed Muktar Shuaibu, commended the governor for achievements in infrastructure development, prompt payment of salaries, improved security and social welfare programmes.

He, however, appealed for government intervention in critical areas, including the rehabilitation of the Shintaku–Gboloko–Dekina and Odenyi–Oguma roads, renovation of healthcare facilities and public schools, and the provision of potable water across the three districts of Bassa LGA.

Responding, Governor Ododo assured the delegation that work on the Odenyi–Oguma Road would commence as soon as the rainy season ends.

On the Shintaku–Gboloko–Dekina Road, the governor disclosed that the Commissioner for Works had, on his directive, met twice with the Minister of Works to push for the completion of the federal road project being handled by TEC Engineering.

He stressed that his administration would continue to engage the Federal Government until the project is completed.

Addressing concerns over healthcare infrastructure, Ododo directed the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry to work with the Commissioner for Health to identify priority health facilities requiring urgent intervention.

The governor also instructed stakeholders to assess the cost of resettling displaced residents of Ibiroko community in Mozum District and submit their findings to the government for appropriate action.

In response to requests by the Bassa Ododo Women 2027 Group, represented by Mrs. Grace Tukura, Governor Ododo approved additional appointments for women and directed stakeholders to submit nominees from the four wards that are yet to be represented in his administration.
