Senator Sunday Karimi representing Kogi west Senatorial district has confirmed receiving an acknowledgement letter from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), recognizing the submission of his candidacy as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kogi West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general election.
Announcing the development on his social media page, Karimi expressed gratitude to God and described the acknowledgement as a collective achievement for his supporters rather than a personal victory.
According to him, the acknowledgement from INEC marks another step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 polls and should inspire members to remain focused on the larger goal of securing electoral victory.
The senator reiterated that the APC primary election produced “no victor and no vanquished,” urging party faithful to put aside differences and work together in the interest of the party.
Karimi stressed the need for reconciliation and unity among APC members in Kogi West, saying all stakeholders must close ranks to ensure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He also pledged to provide inclusive leadership, assuring party members that he would work with everyone, including those who supported other aspirants during the party’s nomination process.
A screenshot attached to his post indicated that INEC acknowledged the successful submission of his candidate profile for the APC senatorial ticket in Kogi State on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The electoral body, however, noted that the acknowledgement is temporary and subject to the completion of further processes.
The development comes as political activities within the APC continue to gather momentum in Kogi West ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders intensifying efforts to strengthen internal cohesion and mobilize support across the district.
