Former Councilor and Supervisor from Ogbonicha Ward in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Yunusa Abdul, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly. He is seeking to represent the newly created Igalaogba State Constituency.
While declaring his ambition before constituents, Hon. Abdul commended the recent delineation that increased Kogi State to 12 state constituencies, a move that gave birth to Igalaogba Constituency. He described the development as long overdue and a step toward equitable representation.
Hon. Abdul lamented that Igalaogba has endured decades of infrastructural neglect and underdevelopment. He expressed optimism that, with the creation of the constituency and proper representation, the area will begin to experience rapid transformation.
According to him, the major challenges facing Igalaogba include the lack of rural access roads, poor electricity supply, and dilapidated markets. He noted that these deficits have stifled economic growth and reduced the quality of life for residents.
He stated that his primary agenda, if elected, is to push for the provision of these basic infrastructures. This includes grading and construction of rural roads, rural electrification projects, and the renovation of markets across communities in the constituency.
Hon. Abdul appealed to the people of Igalaogba to support his aspiration and give him the opportunity to serve. He assured constituents that his representation would be people-centered and focused on tangible results.
He further promised to prioritize genuine empowerment programs for women and youth in the area, stressing that inclusive development must lift the most vulnerable and create pathways for sustainable livelihoods.
