In a strongly-worded statement, the Concerned Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency has condemned the hypocrisy of supporters of Arch Salman Idris, who are crying foul over the arrest of one Seun Jaja for allegedly defaming Rt Honourable Mathew Kolawole.
The youth group noted that Jaja’s actions were a clear case of character assassination, and it’s surprising that Salman’s camp is now playing the victim.
They questioned the moral authority of Salman’s supporters to lecture Kolawole on politics when they’ve been enabling Jaja’s toxic behaviour.
The youth group described the arrest as a “welcome move against character assassination” and accused Salman’s camp of trying to intimidate Hon. Kolawole who is a renowned peace ambassador.
“When Jaja was busy slandering the Kogi State House of Assembly’s Immidiate past speaker, where was this outrage?” the statement asked, adding that Arch. Salman’s supporters are “cooking up narratives” to deflect attention.
The group believes Prince Kolawole is being targeted for his principled stance and refusal to be bullied by Salman’s camp.
Kabba Bunu/Ijumu youths are standing firm behind Kolawole, saying his actions are justified.
The statement also questioned the timing of the ultimatum, saying Kolawole’s ambition is “not the issue” and accused Salman’s camp of projecting their own desperation. ”
Is it because Seun Jaja refused to support Kolawole’s ambition that he’s being targeted?” the statement asked rhetorically. The youth group sees this as a desperate attempt to distract from Jaja’s wrongdoing and shift the focus to Kolawole’s political ambitions. They won’t just buy it.
The youth wing warned against attempts to divide the party, saying Kolawole is acting within his rights to protect his name. We are categorically stating it that Prince Kolawole isn’t the one causing division; it’s those trying to whitewash Jaja’s actions,” the statement said.
The group believes Salman’s camp is playing with fire by trying to intimidate Kolawole and undermine the party’s interests.
The resourceful and energetic youth group is calling on party leaders to take a strong stance against such divisive tactics.
The statement signed by Master Victor Olorunleke from Ileteju/Origa Ward in Ogidi, urged party leaders to support Rt Honourable Kolawole and reject “blackmail” from Salman’s camp.
“We won’t be intimidated by baseless threats,” he added.
The youth group is demanding responsibility from Salman’s camp and wants Jaja to face the music for his actions, we’re not backing down.
The youth group also pointed out the double standard in Salman’s camp, saying if Kolawole’s supporters had been calling Salman names, they’d have reacted differently. “Hypocrisy at its peak,” the statement said.
The Concerned APC Youths are calling out Salman’s camp for their selective outrage and lack of principle. This isn’t about politics; it’s about right and wrong.
In conclusion, the Concerned Youth Wing reaffirmed its support for Kolawole and urged party leaders to take action against those trying to destabilize the party with “malicious narratives”.
Pledging their unalloyed loyalty and standing firm behind Kolawole and won’t let Salman’s camp bully them into silence. The party needs unity, not divisive tactics.
Signed,
Master Victor Olorunleke.
President,
Concerned Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
