The people of Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in Kogi state, has declared their support for Federal Government over the establishment of five LNG plants in their community.

In a joint statement by the Executive Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government, Hon Haruna Ogido and the Ohi of Ajaokuta, and Chairman, Ajaokuta LGA Traditional Council, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Musa Isah, Achuja, said the people have given their seal of approval for the project, while pledging the support of the community to ensure a hitch-free groundbreaking ceremony.

According to them, “this project is important for Ajaokuta, and its benefits will be felt far and wide. The LNG plants will create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and increase access to clean energy. It’s a commitment to the community’s quest to progress and development. As the representatives of our people , we urge the Management of Ajaokuta Steel Company to cooperate fully with the company establishing the plants.

Speaking further they said “The Management of Ajaokuta Steel Company must recognize the overwhelming support of the community for this project. Any attempt to hinder or delay the project will be counterproductive and may jeopardize the benefits that the community stands to gain. We implore them to work collaboratively with the company to ensure the project’s success.

“The groundbreaking ceremony is a major milestone, and we urge the people of Ajaokuta to come out en masse to show their support. Let us demonstrate our unity and commitment to progress by participating in this historic event schedule for 30 January 2025.

“As we prepare for the groundbreaking ceremony, we want to assure the community and the Company that we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the project’s success. We will engage with all stakeholders, including the Management of Ajaokuta Steel Company, to ensure that the project is completed on time and to the benefit of our community.

“We are in full support of the position of our distinguished House of Representative member, Rt Hon Sani Egidi Abdulraheem for a successful and hitch free groundbreaking ceremony slated for 30 January 2025.
