The Aliko Dangote Foundation, ADF, has sponsored the 53rd Nutrition Society of Nigeria, NSN, Annual and Scientific Conference held in Abuja.

The theme of the Conference was “Strengthening Nutrition Leadership and Workforce Capacity for Improved Health and Development in Nigeria”

The Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) is a professional, non-governmental association founded in 1963 at the University of Ibadan.

The NSN Annual Conference and Scientific Meeting aimed to provide a platform for stakeholders to brainstorm on issues in the Nutrition landscape with a view to providing lasting solutions to the challenges.

This year, the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Aliko Dangote Foundation, organized nutrition-focused inter-school debate competition, that brought together twelve secondary schools from the Federal Capital Territory.

The competition aimed to create awareness about the importance of nutrition,
and promote the cultivation of edible fruit-bearing trees in schools.

The competition took place virtually while the finals was on the first day of the conference.

The debate was intense, with both teams presenting compelling arguments on the topic,
“Planting Edible Fruit Bearing Trees is Better Than Planting Flowers in Schools.”

Aliko Dangote Foundation looks forward to continued support to Nutrition Society of Nigeria in achieving its overall goals and promoting nutrition education among school children in Nigeria.

Represented at the Conference by the Director, Health and Nutrition, Mr. Francis Aminu, the Managing Director of Aliko Dangote Foundation, ADF, Zouera Youssoufou, said the Foundation is
is a key player in Nutrition and Development and would continue to support stakeholders in their effort to improve the Nutritional status of the Country.

She urged the Conference to seek solutions to closing the gaps of the nutrition workforce, network on innovative ideas and collectively chart the part towards a brighter and healthier Nutrition for Nigerians.
