As the Kogi governorship race hots up, an aspirant on the platform of People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Bayo Adobayin Averehi has said that the incumbent, Alhaji Yayaha Bello needs help as he no longer has the capacity to continue in office.
Averehi said this on Thursday after officially declaring his interest to contest the November 16 governorship election in the state.
He thus become the only aspirant from Kogi Central to challenge his Kingsman, the incumbent, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who had earlier signified interest to continue on office for a second term.
He said that the incumbent has given all his best, with nothing left in hilm to offer the people.
“The Governor has tried his best, that all he has to offer, you cannot give what you don’t have,he definitely needs help and I am ready to provide that help by wrestling power from him to better the life of my people” he said.
Earlier, in his statement of declaration, Averehi had said that his aim in politics was to correct the prevailing wrong perception about democracy in the state.
“Democracy is not authoritarianism, neither is it dictatorship. It is not also an exercise of tyranny, all of which are not at all model systems of governance”
According to to him,”government belongs to the people, it is powered by the people and it is to serve the people. This is exactly like an employer- employees relationship. You, the people are the employers and the leaders usually voted into positions if governance are the employees, you,the people, sign the appointment letters of the leaders by thumb printing on the ballot papers to employ the leaders as custodians of our Commonwealth “
He promised to establish a structure that will promote sustainable unity and good governance in Kogi state
