The Convener, Congress For Better Nigeria, Barr. Zaccaeus Dare Michael has faulted the claims of Professor Itse Sagay for rejecting the 2023 presidential ambition of governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello, saying “Sagay is still living in the past.”
The Convener while reacting to Sagay’s claim that the Kogi governor has no records to show to warrant his nursing presidential ambition, Barr. Dare lambasted Prof Sagay insisting that his generation has failed this country assuring that the Youths have vowed to take their destinies in their hands in 2023.
According to Barr. Dare, it is unfortunate that a learned personality would speak about rotation in a democracy, pointing out that the overwhelming calls across the country for Gov. Bello to aspire is hinged on his outstanding performances in governance as can be seen in all sectors of governance.
Barr. Dare said Sagey is living in a world of ignorance not knowing that Kogi State is adjudged as the most peaceful state in the North today”, urged him to visit the State to see first hand the transformation the State has witnessed under Gov. Bello.
Barr. Dare described Prof Sagey as a man who is not in tune with realities expressed sympathy that as much as he tries to seek relevance, he has further exposed his inadequacies of happenings in the country, urged him to have a rethink and do restitution for failure to bring to disrepute the person and efforts of Gov. Bello.
The Convener assured that the days when the generation of Prof. Sagey were allowed to drag the nation backwards has long gone as all over the world Youths are now in leadership position, with Nigeria not going to be an exception.
He warned that any attempt to deny the teeming Youths of Nigeria leadership in the Presidency in 2023 would witnessed another uprising as was witnessed during the EndSars protest last year.
The Convener expressed dismay that Professor Sagay would embark on a campaign to condemn young and upcoming new generation of Nigeria’s political class from what rightfully belongs to them”, described his utterances as most unfortunate.
Barr. Dare stressed that contesting in 2023 would be based on competence, urged
Prof. Sagay to respect the processes of electing a leader under a democratic system and forget any undemocratic arrangements that is not recognize by law as Nigerian Youths are now more wiser than Prof. Sagey thinks.
Barr. Dare described Gov. Bello administration as one that has met the yearning and aspiration of the people of Kogi State in the areas of health, education, security and infrastructure, reasons why his popularity across the country remains unprecedented.
Barr. Dare described the efforts to ensure that the Youths elect one of their own remains a battle of no surrender.
