Kogi West Senatorial District appealed to two other Senatorial Districts to concede and be allowed to produce the next Governor of the state in 2023.
The appeal was made when Kogi West Initiative (KWI) hosted a Kogi West Leadership Community Meeting across party lines in Abuja on 16th December 2021 with Distinguished Sen. Tunde Ogbeha as Chairman.
The meeting brought together Leaders from Kogi West Senatorial Districts from different political parties such as the APC, PDP, ADC and as well as non partisan leaders and bureaucrats.
This is the resolutions reached at the end of the meeting:
Observed a minute silence in memory of: The late father of His Royal Highness, the Obaro of Kabba; The departed wife of the current Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole; and the lost souls following the armed robbery attacks in Yagba West LG recently.
The meeting also symphatised with the Kogi State Chief of Staff and people of the Central Senatorial zone over the kidnaping of his mother and prayed that God will protect her and rescue her.
Noted and commended the KWI for the activities carried out thus far, which among others include: The 1st Kogi West Summit held in Lokoja on the 16th of October, 2021; The Sensitisation & Strategic meeting with Stakeholders across the Senatorial District; The Kogi West Youth Retreat; Meeting with some Executive Members of Political parties from Kogi West; and the just concluded Leadership Community Meeting in Abuja.
Reiterated that it is the turn of Kogi West to produce the next Governor of Kogi State twenty- two years after the current political dispensation.
Reiterated its request that Kogi West should be considered for the position of the Governor in 2023 in view of the fact that the other two Senatorial Districts have already occupied this position except Kogi West Senatorial District.
Noted that the agitation and aspiration for the Kogi West Senatorial District to produce the next Governor of the state is open to all indigenes of Kogi West from the seven Local Governments and hence will be pursued vigorously by all irrespective of their political persuasion.
Emphasised the need for cohesion within Kogi West Senatorial District and confidence building with other senatorial Districts.
