The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi has called on the various leaders in the North Central zone of Nigeria to resolve on Governor Yahaya Bello to be the presidential candidate of the party and that of the nation come 2023.
He made the call in Lafia, the state capital this morning when the delegation of the Kogi State House of Assembly led by Rt. Hon. (Prince) Matthew Kolawole paid their counterparts an advocacy visit to woo them in support of Governor Yahaya Bello’s Presidential Ambition.
According to him, the state has leaders and whenever it is time to take decisions, they always speak in one voice, stressing that their leaders don’t take such decisions without carrying them along.
He commended the leadership of the Kogi State House of Assembly led by Speaker Kolawole for taking the bull by the horns to moving round the country advocating for the youngest Governor to become the president of Nigeria. He pointed out that it is not out of place for the younger generation to lead the country out of the wood of insecurity that is bedeviling the country.
He apologized for the delay in the visit, saying that the visit was to have come earlier than this time, urging them not to see it as a slight on them rather to prepare adequately for their coming, noting that Kogi and Nasarawa have so many things in common like, culture, language and boundary.
He said as an Ebira man in Nasarawa State, he wouldn’t have contrary opinion for the aspiration of his kinsmen in Kogi, noting that there is no doubt about the capacity and capability of Governor Yahaya Bello to take the country to another level of development especially the insecurity challenge.
He recounted his experience with the Governor when he visited Lafia and he said in the presence of his colleagues Governors of Nasarawa and Niger states that he will never negotiate with criminals, saying with such courage and audacity to confront such evil elements in the society, he believes he will be a better president that have the zeal and commitment to stabilize the country.
He said the Nasarawa State House of Assembly being the true representatives of the people whatever their decision is will be carried to the grassroots. He reiterated that Governor Yahaya Bello is a good product for Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Matthew Kolawole commended his counterpart in Nasarawa State for hosting the delegation.
He said Nasarawa State is the last state to visit for the advocacy tour in the north central zone to canvass support for Governor Yahaya Bello’s presidential aspiration, noting that without much rhetorics, considering his monumental achievements in the area of security, youths and women inclusiveness in governance, civil service reform, infrastructure development, religion tolerance, and his unification agenda, he is good to go.
He noted that the Assembly took up the challenge based on their cordial working relationship and other landmark achievements in the state. The assembly equally made him the 26th Honorary member of the assembly and also passed a vote of confidence on him urging him to contest for the number one position in the country, and promised to move round the country to mobilize and canvas for support for him.
He urged Nasarawa lawmakers to support the project as it represents north central struggle, pointing out that since the country returned to democracy in 1999, the zone has not been privileged to occupy the exotic office.
Kolawole said those calling for the return of power to the southern part of the country forgets to note that the zone have been in power fours years more than the northern part, stressing that Obasanjo and Jonathan administrations have spent 14years while Yar’ Adua and President Muhammad Buhari after the completion of his tenure in 2023 by the grace of God, the north would have only spent 10years, which means the north still have 4yrs to meet up with the southern part of the country.
He said Governor Yahaya Bello who is only 46 years old this year will only be 56yrs when he will be by the grace of God completing his 8yrs as President, noting his vibrancy, courage and audacity will help to reposition the country for the betterment of all.
