No fewer than 1000 pregnant women have benefited from Healthcare Insurance scheme for across the seven local government areas in Kogi west sponsored by Senator Smart Adeyemi representing Kogi west senatorial district of the state at the National Assembly.
Adeyemi while speaking during the flag off ceremony held at Primary Healthcare Centre in Lokoja on Tuesday, he said that intervention on the health of pregnant women is to compliment the effort of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in the area of health sector.
He pointed out that the health insurance scheme will cover the pregnant women from the conception , antenatal, point of delivery and also surgical operation as the case may.
He called on pregnant women across the seven local government areas of Kogi West to come out and register for the scheme so that they can have free access to antenatal and drugs for period of nine months.
Senator Adeyemi pointed out that the next healthcare insurance scheme will covered people from the age of 70 and above, noting that he was motivated by the fact the the State government had established Kogi Primary Health Insurance programme in the state.
The lawmaker added that by October 2021 he will revive the School bursary for the students of institutions of higher learning in Kogi West.
He equally seized the opportunity to appeal to all the aggrieved party faithful who felt slighted during just concluded All Progressive Congress APC in Kogi State.
He appealed that everyone should forgive and forget, stressing that let everybody come together in the party as one family.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade in her good will message commended the initiative of Senator Adeyemi for having pregnant women in mind at this crucial stage of their pregnancy
Ayoade therefore called on other lawmakers both at state and federal and all political office holders to emulate the good gesture of Senator Smart Adeyemi who she described the many of the masses .
