The Kogi State Police Command has arrested six students of the Federal University, Lokoja, over their alleged involvement in cyberstalking, assault, and related offences.

The suspects were identified as Inajo Henry, Nzekwe Victor, Lucky Victor, Lucky Gambo, Paul David, and another 17-year-old male student of the institution.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Afusat, the arrests followed a complaint lodged by a fellow student, Oladosu Sunday, who accused the group of cyberstalking and assault.

The statement revealed that the incident was initially reported at the ‘B’ Division, Lokoja, on March 30, 2026, before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed investigation.

Preliminary findings indicated that the suspects allegedly conspired to falsely accuse the victim of being homosexual without any credible evidence. They reportedly lured him to an apartment near the Living Faith Church area in Felele, Lokoja, on March 29 at about 9:00 p.m.

Upon arrival, the victim was said to have been confined, stripped naked, and subjected to physical assault using belts and charging cords.

The attackers allegedly recorded the incident and circulated the video online, where it gained traction within the university community.

Police further disclosed that the suspects admitted during interrogation that their actions were premeditated and based on unverified assumptions about the victim.

The Command confirmed that investigations have been concluded and the suspects have been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.

Reiterating its stance against unlawful acts, the Police warned against jungle justice, cyberbullying, and other forms of criminality, urging members of the public especially students to seek lawful means in resolving disputes.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while calling for continued public cooperation in combating crime.
