The Kogi Central People’s Alliance (KOCEPA), on behalf of the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District, welcomes the long-awaited verdict of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to terminate the fraudulent recall process. We congratulate the good people of Kogi Central.

This development is a triumph for the people and a defeat for the retrogressive elements who sought to subvert the will of the people through the back door Although the belated verdict didn’t come as a surprise to us. We expected nothing less, given the frivolous nature and the charades that characterized their ignominious petition.

However, we’re utterly shocked by the claim that the petitioners scored up to 43% of the required signatures for a recall. If the INEC had carried out verification, we doubt if they would have gotten up to 10 percent of the manufactured signatures. A forensic investigation/analysis is needed to verify this claim. Again, in any case, we are somehow happy that the attempted electoral frauds (democratic coup) disguised as a recall process has been put to rest, and the people have emerged victorious.

Nevertheless, the weighty crime should not be swept under the carpet. We call for a thorough investigation of the alleged forged signatures and the culprits must be served with appropriate sanctions to deter a repeat of such crimes in the future .

This verdict is a profound statement by the people, demonstrating their unshakable support for our senator. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan remains the most loved and popular political leader in our senatorial district. We urge the people to remain determined, standing firm for justice and the democratic principles that have brought us this far.We appeal to the patriotic people of Kogi Central to continue to remain civil even in the face of obvious provocation from the merchants of oppression – GOOD SHALL ALWAYS TRIUMPH OVER EVIL AS GOD LIVES.

We would like to seize this opportunity to once again call on the leadership of the Senate to reinstate our Senator from the illegal suspension without further delay. Our constituency has been left without representation,.demor alized, and traumatized over the past two months, with approximately 1.6 million constituents suspended from a critical institution of government like the Senate.

This continued illegal suspension of our senator has far-reaching sociopolitical consequences for the Nigerian state. We once again call on well meaning elders and statesmen in Nigeria to find political solutions to this avoidable national distraction.
