The All Progressive Congress is in existence all thanks to different political gladiators who came together to create a mega political party that could rival the then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Among the prominent Nigerians, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu played a very active role in ensuring that a new alternative political party was created.

He had seen first hand on two different occasions how difficult it was to dethrone the Peoples Democratic Party as the ruling party. His support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria wasn’t successful, this must-have motivated him to work with other Nigerians in creating the All Progressive Congress.

Several years had gone after the creation of the All Progressive Congress, the party is now the ruling party with many politicians joining the winning train.

Presently, the All Progressive Congress has the highest number of Governors, Senators, and House of Representatives members.

The effort of the few Nigerians who came together to create the mega political party, the All Progressive Congress, has paid off massively. As popularly known, politics is very difficult to predict, it is filled with different twists and turns.

After years of the creation of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is still a member of the party, notwithstanding several intraparty clashes that he has been able to handle admirably.

The forthcoming 2023 presidential election will surely trigger more curious happenings in the political arena, change of a political platform, and more political clashes are bound to happen.

Irrespective of whatever happened as regards the 2023 presidential election in the APC, the party needs Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu more than he needs the party.

This write-up will shed more light on the reasons why the All Progressive Congress needs Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu more than he needs the party.

1. Southwest geopolitical zone and the influence of Tinubu: It should be noted that before the creation of the APC, Tinubu had been the undisputed Jagaban in the Southwest geopolitical zone, with his foot soldiers dominating most political openings within the zone.

The involvement of Tinubu with the All Progressive Congress made him more influential in national politics.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the national leader of the All Progressive Congress, he is the most popular face of the party in the Southwest geopolitical zone.

The massive support being enjoyed by the APC in the Southwest can be linked to Tinubu being a member of the party. He has a huge number of political loyalists within the zone that is very committed to him.

It is a well-known truth that Tinubu is key to the massive support being witnessed by the party in the southwest geopoltical zone.

2. Jagaban and Lagos State: The Tinubu dynasty controls the political structure of the Lagos State straight from the grassroots to the top.

Right from when the country returned to democracy, the four governors that had governed the state have been from the political camp of Jagaban.

Lagos State is a very unique state, it is widely referred to as the economic capital of the country.

Apart from being the economic capital of the country, Lagos State ranks tall among the states that have a high voting strength.

With Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as a member of the All Progressive Congress, the party can count on him to deliver major votes in the election for the party.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu belongs to the class of politicians whose influences are felt at different corners of different geopolitical zones.

Presently, only a few politicians can give a political party what Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has in stock to offer to the All Progressive Congress.
