I am not unaware of the demise of the beloved mother of His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello. May the soul of the Matriarch, Hajiya Hawawu Oziohu Bello of Ochi Ipemida Bello dynasty be admitted in the righteous abode in eternity. Accept my condolences on behalf of well meaning Kogites both at home and in diaspora.
I received with dismay the news of the appointment of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) made last week. Most of the former Chief Administrators of the 21 local government councils were appointed amongst the 35 SSAs and assigned security matters of their respective councils.
The appointment of SSAs (security matters) is dangerous to democracy in Kogi State. They will use the offices to victimise their political opponents, no doubt. The franchise of opponents will be abused deliberately. The New Direction is once again ill advised in the designation of offices to the appointees.
The appointment threw the populace into confusion regarding the scope of operation. The former Chief Administrators having spent over three years in council offices can be assign responsive offices not the offices that will hamper the work of the newly inaugurated SIEC to conduct credible local council election.
Your Excellency, you may in the interest of the people reassign the appointees, as a people oriented administration under your leadership. This will avert the looming havoc that they can use their new offices to cause.
The Administrators’ union under Isa Taofik is a cabal in the progressive wheel of the New Direction administration. In advance civil society, opinion poll regarding my assertion would have revealed the true situation. The former Administrators should be in passive position as other aspirants, and candidates of other political parties in the institution that will usher in elected council officers.
Your Excellency, I suggest a 3-man liaison officers to replace the 7-man Team of Administrators to cut cost, and instead of entrusting the councils in the hands of civil servants preparatory to local government councils election.
I have no doubt that this piece is a reflection of the opinion of the majority who are voiceless. I appreciates your attention, and prompt response to the call and cry of the people.
