A fatal road accident along the Jimgbe–Ajaokuta–Lokoja road on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a middle-aged man, while two other persons sustained serious injuries.
The crash, which occurred at about 1:30 p.m., involved a truck conveying stones that developed a mechanical fault and subsequently collided with another truck that was parked by the roadside.
It was gathered that the deceased, identified as Ayuba, was a mechanic who was carrying out repairs on the parked truck when the moving vehicle rammed into it.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, with the support of motorists, were seen making frantic efforts to rescue victims trapped at the scene of the accident.
The injured victims were later evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical attention, while normal traffic flow was restored after the wreckage was cleared from the road.
