The administrator of Okene local government area of Kogi state, Engr. Abdulrazak Yusuf has admonished the people of central senatorial district of the state to compliment the effort of the state government in tackling the issue of insecurity by giving useful information to security agents to enable them discharge their duties creditable and efficiently.
Dr Yusuf gave the admonition on Saturday at Ebira central mosque in Okene during the presentation of 1441AH Eman Hijra calendar /celebration organised by El-Birru Muslim Association of Nigeria (EMAN).
The administrator who lamented that in the past security challenges such as kidnapping , armed robbery and other social vices are alien to the district, said the rising insecurity situation in the district calls for concern and involvement of all and sundry to compliment the effort of Governor Yahaya Bello’s commitment toward ensuring that the state is safe for the people .
“I am appealing to people to report any strange face in their areas to the appropriate authority for prompt action . The state government have not relent on its effort to provide adequate security of life and property to the citizenry and security agents can not be every where , therefore it behoves on us to assist them with useful information that will enable them clamp down on perpetrators of evils in our domain” he said.
Earlier, the National Amir of EMAN , Arc. Abdulyekeen Mamman in his speech said the purpose of the Hijra calendar celebration was to enable Muslims reflect on their past and amend their ways before it is to late, noting that Muslims can achieve a lot if they are determined to do away with bad tendencies and follow the advise of the Holy Prophet .
According to him , the Prophet said “The rich should be generous towards the poor , the poor should be patient with the rich, and the elders should be merciful to the young”
While admonishing Muslims to be mindful of their mode of dressing, behaviours and the way they deal with other fellow human being, the Nation Amir , stated that the manner in which Muslims conduct themselves with all those around them speakers volumes of their dream.
He charged Muslims to always spend their money in propagating Islam and assisting the needy ones in the society, saying the reward of being generous is unquantifiable.
The Chairman of the occasion , Alhaji Ahmed Badamasiu charged Muslims and non Muslims in the district to love one another in the interest of peace , saying without peace and unity there can never be progress and development.
Dr Muhammad Zubair a lecturer at Bayero University Kano who delivered a lecture at the occasion , said the Prophet of Isalm used hijrah (migration) to unified the Arabs , advising Muslims in the country to be patient and be perseverance in the interest of peace.
He cautioned Muslims in central senatorial district of Kogi state not to use mosque as venue for attack or cause violence , stressing that such attitude can only hamper the existing unity among Muslims communities.
