
The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, has announced plans for its 2026 Press Week, scheduled to hold on March 26 at Edge Drive Hotel, Lokoja.
The Organising Committee, in a statement issued said the event will feature a major fundraising drive aimed at generating ₦250 million for the construction of a befitting secretariat for the Chapel.
As part of the activities, a public lecture will be delivered by Dr. Femi Ajisafe, while awards will be presented to notable individuals in recognition of their contributions to public service.
Among the awardees are Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello; and Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja.
Others to be honoured include the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Alhaji Sule Salihu Enehe; economist and data analyst, Daramola Omoyele; and Hon. Leke Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is expected to attend as Special Guest of Honour, while the Ohimegye Igu of Kotonkarfe, HRM Seidu Akawu, will serve as Royal Father of the Day.
The statement also listed Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, Chairman of Mangal Industries, and Prince Olatunji Olusoji, the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom, as Principal Launchers for the event.
Alhaji Momohjimoh Adeiza, Vice President of NUJ Zone D, will serve as Chief Host, while the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, will host the occasion.
