In continuation of the nationwide consultations with the stakeholders of the All Progress Congress (APC) embarked upon in line with the Kogi State House of Assembly resolution calling on Governor Yahaya Bello to run for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ayuba Abok has said the north central zone will have no alternative than to rally round one of their own ahead of the 2023 Presidential Elections in the country.
He disclosed this when the Kogi Assembly delegation led by Rt. Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole visited him and other members in Jos, Plateau State capital today to woo them in support of Governor Yahaya Bello’s ambition.
He said Governor Yahaya Bello’s age, youthfulness and security tactics is a major selling point for him to represent the zone as Nigeria’s President in 2023.
He noted that despite the fact that the zone has produced military heads of state in the past does not override the good intentions of the Governor to contest for the exotic position of the president in Nigeria stressing that the zone has the population with votes that  always counts.
Abok urged the Governor to implement the assembly autonomy which is what the Conference of Speakers has been working for noting that the zone cannot continue to be spectators in the political schemes of the country, stressing that his antecedents in the area of security, human capital development, women and youth inclusion in governance will go a long way to work for him.
He said the Assembly has thought it right to embark on the consultation tour to woo members of the Assembly who were elected on the platform of All Progressive Congress who are automatic delegates in the party primary, noting that the tour is worth the while.
He said Governor Yahaya Bello is in the range of the Not Too Young to Run Campaign that seeks for more youths in governance and also with the recent Endsars crisis, it is important the country go the way of the youths which is the Constituency of the governor.
Earlier, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole had informed the Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker and the members of the objective of their visit to ask for their support for Governor Yahaya Bello’s intention to contest for the president in 2023.
He said the Assembly in line with their resolutions calling on the Governor to contest to translate whatever he is doing that made Kogi State safe to the country to benefit from it.
He said the Assembly will move round the 36 states to galvanize support for the Governor’s ambition, noting that they decided to commenced the visit from Plateau State, since their Speaker is chairman of the north central zone of the conference of speakers of the states Legislature in Nigeria
Other members who are parts of the delegation include, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Ahmed Muhammad, Chief Whip, Hon. Murtar Bajeh, Hon. Ademola Bello, Mopamuro, Hon. Musa Hallirioncollins, Omala and Hon. Dahiru Muhammad, Okene II.
