The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is to commission 100 micro projects across the 21 local government areas in the state.

The projects are part of the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NGCARES) Programme of the state government aimed at cushioning the economic challenges in communities in a bid to increase access to basic social infrastructure.

This was part of the revelation made by the General Manager of Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Chief Dauda Momoh at the ongoing training of the Community and Group Project Management Committees at Okene, Kogi State,

The training was meant to empower them in areas of project supervision, monitoring, evaluation, as well as financial management, procurement, documentation, and record keeping.

According to Chief Momoh, the new Kogi State administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is poised to ensure the provision of basic services facilities in all rural communities and amongst Gender and Vulnerable Groups in the state and to cushion the economic difficulties which were brought about by COVID-19.

The General Manager who praised the immediate past governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for laying the foundation that made a seemingly transition for continuity, added that the sectors of intervention by the state are Health and Social Servcies, Education, Water and Sanitation, and Nutrition Service with micro projects spanning Clinic Renovation, and Construction of Clinics.

Others are Provision of Clinic Equipment and Drugs, Renovation and Construction of Schools, Construction of ICT Centers, Provision of Desks, and Instructional Materials, Supply of Books, Renovation and Construction of Libraries.

The list also includes Water projects in the form of Motorized Boreholes, Water Reticulation and schemes reactivation.

Some communities and groups are also supported for the enhancement of their nutrition in the area, the nutrition sector intervention ranges from Sensitization, Provision of Supplements, and Nutrition Support Center.

The ongoing training is scheduled to hold from 19thto 24th of February 2024 at Okene for forty communities and groups across the 21 LGAs of Kogi State.
