The Kakanda traditional institution has called for stronger collaboration among religious leaders, traditional rulers, and government authorities to address societal challenges and promote peace, unity, and sustainable development across Kogi State.
The call was made by the Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom while delivering a message on behalf of Alhaji Saleh Ahmadu, OON, the Makama of Kakanda and Chairman of Trade Modernization, at an event organized by the Kogi State Council of Ulama.
Speaking before Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, government officials, and other stakeholders, the royal father stressed the need for collective action in tackling issues such as poverty, moral decadence, youth restiveness, insecurity, and social division.
He noted that the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah provide enduring solutions to the challenges confronting society, emphasizing that the true strength of any community lies in its unity, justice, compassion, and devotion to God.
According to him, the example set by Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who fostered peaceful coexistence among people of diverse backgrounds, remains a model for contemporary society.
The Agankyu commended the Kogi State Council of Ulama for its contributions to the advancement of Islam and peacebuilding, describing Islamic scholars as vital agents of moral guidance and community development.
He urged members of the council to sustain efforts aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence, sound education, moral discipline, and mutual understanding among people irrespective of ethnic or social differences.
The traditional ruler reaffirmed the commitment of the Kakanda Kingdom to initiatives that promote peace, education, religious harmony, and community development, stressing that meaningful progress can only be achieved through sincere partnerships between traditional institutions, religious leaders, and government.
He also challenged young people to embrace education, entrepreneurship, good character, and the fear of Allah, while shunning violence, drug abuse, criminal activities, and other social vices that undermine development.
The royal father further offered prayers for political leaders at all levels, seeking divine wisdom, justice, sincerity, and courage for them in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He expressed optimism that with unity and collective commitment, Kogi State would continue to grow as a beacon of peace, prosperity, and harmony.
The event brought together Islamic scholars, community leaders, government representatives, and other stakeholders committed to fostering religious harmony and social development in the state.
