Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been asked to consider the People of Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency by nominating the area for the next ministerial position as this would not only ginger their sense of belonging, but help in righting the wrong of the past.
In a statement issued and signed by the President Okun Rebirth Organization, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, he said a conscious efforts should be made not to politically ostracize the people of Lokoja Kogi federal constituency from the scheme of things, insisting that the people of Lokoja Koto must be made to in the next dispensation nominated to produce the minister from the state.
According to him, since 1999, the people of Ijumu LGA have produced two federal ministers in the persons of Chief Bayo Ojo, and Gen. David Jemibewon, while Yagba has also produced two ministers in Chief Eyitayo Lambo and Chief Kola Jamodu.
He lamented that the Senate of Kogi West has remained in Ijumu LGA for the fourth time now, said in the principle of equity and justice, it would be wrong to again give to them the Ministerial position.
He said for the people of Lokoja Koto to be actively involved in the governor’s reelection in view of their voting strength in November, the area he maintained should be nominated for the next ministerial position.
The President advised governor Yahaya Bello to be weary not to allow politicians who can not add electoral values to his activities for his reelection to destabilize his political chances, appealed to him not to give room to those whose selfish interest is aimed at creating disaffection.
He lamented that having robbed Yagba people of the senate for eight years now orchestrated by an individual, opined that removing the office of the Secretary to State Government from that area now would be tantamount to striping Yagba people naked, and as such wants the status maintained, said it is not justice able for Ijumu to still have the Senate and also produce the Minister from the state.
The group called on governor Yahaya Bello to fulfill his promise having giving his words and entered into a covenant to nominate Lokoja Kogi federal constituency for the ministerial position, urged the governor to right the wrong and allow for the people of Lokoja Kogi federal constituency to move in the direction of his reelection.
