A member representing Yagba East state house of Assembly, Hon. Musa Jimoh Omiata has debunked rumour making around that the Speaker of kogi state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole absconded to Abuja with the mace to avoid been impeached.
There is rumour making around that as the state await the Supreme Court judgement on Kogi state Governorship election next week Monday, their are plan to impeach the speaker.
However, the Chairman house committee on Information while reacting to the rumour informed newsmen at the assembly on Thursday after sitting, that the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole never at anytime absconded with the mace to Abuja.
He pointed out that their was no plan to impeach the speaker from office stressing that all members of the house are working together for the interest of the state.
“I wonder where people get information from. We sat today and the mace was there. The Speaker never abscond with the maze. We don’t have problem in the house why should people be thinking of impeaching the speaker.
“All members of the House are working today and we are family. We see no reason why people will be carrying rumour about, we are one family.
“Today during our sitting we have the mace before us and we can’t seat without mace but you saw the mace. It is not possible for any House of Assembly to seat and pass a bill without the present of mace. Today we pass bill so that claim that the mace was not with us an imagination of some people who want to deceive the general public
“Kogi state House of Assembly is intact as ever and the house is devoid of any rancour we are together as single entity with zeal to move the state forward through our robust legislation,” he said.
