Kogi Local Government Council has announced a temporary adjustment to Christian fellowship activities in remote and hard-to-reach communities within the Local Government Area, following recent security briefings and precautionary advisories received through appropriate government channels.
According to the Council, the decision is a preventive security measure aimed at safeguarding lives, places of worship, and maintaining communal harmony across the area. Authorities emphasized that the adjustment is not a religious policy and is not targeted at any faith group, but rather a proactive step taken in the overall interest of public safety.
Clarifying the directive, the Local Government stated that no religious activity of any kind is permitted in distant and hard-to-reach parts of Kogi Local Government Area until further notice, as security assessments and monitoring continue.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative during this period. The Council acknowledged the importance of faith-based activities to community life and expressed regret over any inconvenience the temporary measure may cause.
All relevant security formations within the Local Government Area have been formally notified and mandated to guide, monitor, and ensure compliance with the directive. The Council further warned that any deliberate violation of the order may attract appropriate measures in line with existing security and administrative regulations.
The notice will remain in force until further communication is issued by the Kogi Local Government Council.
