Following an intensive stakeholders meeting between the leadership of the Nigeria union of local Government Employee (NUlGE) Medical and Health workers union and the state ministry of Local Government and chieftaincy Affairs, the leadership of the workers in the state have pledged their support to the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

This was contained in a statement issued by         Mr. Akpata Jordan Alaba Director Public Relations and Grassroots Sensitization.
      
The kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) Comrade Onuh Edoka who attended the meeting and spoke on behalf of kogi workers said transparency and the synergy being put in place by the special  Adviser on Local Government and chieftaincy Affairs, Engr Abubakar  Ohere on salary payment has created a harmony with workers of the stàte.

Comrade Edoka said the union leadership will continue to press for the release of the over thirty billion naira bail out to kogi State Government to enable her clear salary arrears in the state.  He appealed to the State Government to set up a committee which will involve the union Leaders and Government officials in the disbursement of the bail out for the payment of salaries.

In his speech the Special Adviser on Local Government and chieftaincy Affairs , Engr. Abubakar Ohere thanked the union Leaders for their understanding  in  the past three and half years

He said the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello places high priority on the welfare of local Government and State Workers.

Engr.Ohere said as soon the remaining bail out of over thirty billion naira is released Government Will place the payment of salaries to kogi workers will be placed on first line  charge. 

He maintained that the government would continue to ensure that the workers in the state  smile in the shortest possible time.
   
The Special Adviser assured the union Leaders that his Ministry will convey to the state Governor all their request.

He maintained that Governor Bello assured them that Government would continue to
do her best to put  smiles on the faces of worker.

Engr, therefore thanked the union for their deep understanding  and barring their mind on issues affecting them and assured them that  Government would continue to collaborate with them.

He promised the labour  Leaders that the synergy between them and the Local Government administration in the welfare of workers would be a continue one.

He  said assured them that he will replicate such meeting between the union Leaders and local Government Administrators at the local Government levels.

Earlier the president of NULGE,Comrade Tade Adeyemi urged the Ministry of Local Government and chieftaincy Affairs, to ensure that as soon as bail out funds is released, Local Government workers should be pay one hundred percent  salaries as well arrears of salaries.

Comrade Adeyemi also called on the Ministry to mount pressure on appreciate body for promotion of workers who are due since 2017 and appealed for implementation of payment of promotion arrears to local Government workers.

On his part the local Government Auditor General Mall. Ahmed Usman  Ododo declared that his office has continued to place back those who are cleared on the pay roll system.

Mallam Ododo thanked the Union Leaders for their understanding in carrying out reforms in the Local Government system.

    I don’t believe the UNION LEADER of kogi state workers can rally support for governor bellos administration for the way and manner the administration has treated her staff. Well, for the selfish intrest of the UNION LEADERS, such statement could be said. May the Almighty ALLAH guide us.
