The Government of Kogi State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute to train 1,050 youths across the 21 LGAs of the State in various technical and vocational skills.
Representing governor Yahaya Bello, the Governor of the State at the occasion, the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. (Mrs) Folashade Arike Ayoade identified youth empowerment as a key requirement for the economic advancement of the State.
Mrs. Ayoade who noted that thuggery and many other social vices are found mainly among youths expressed the need to engage youths in gainful empowerment progammes as a panacea for poverty and idleness-induced vices.
She reiterated Governor Yahaya Bello’s belief in the capability of the youths in the State to succeed, regretting the fact that many youths want to get rich quick rather than make themselves available for such skill acquisition programmes, and urged Kogi youths to avail themselves of the opportunity offered by the programme.
Describing Governor Yahaya Bello as a man who rather than being discouraged, is driven to work harder and make more positive impacts when criticized, Mrs. Ayoade said that the Governor is mindful of the good of all
Kogites, even though it is impossible to achieve a hundred percent satisfaction.
She encouraged Kogites support Alh. Yahaya Bello in building a Kogi State that we can be proud of.
Earlier in his remark, the Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Prince S.O., Salisu commended Governor Yahaya Bello for always taking special interest in youth empowerment.
