Kogi Gov. inaugurates free healthcare initiative for indigent citizens

Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello of Kogi has inaugurated a free healthcare services to cater for the indigent citizens across the state, tagged: ”Free Door-To-Door Healthcare Initiative”.
It would be recalled that the Kogi Government last week took delivery of consignment of drugs and consumables to be used for a medical outreach programme for indigent patients across the state.
The governor at the inauguration ceremony in Lokoja on Friday said the gesture was basically for indigent citizens of the state, who did not have the wherewithal to afford quality healcare services.
He added that everything had been put in place to ensure that the targeted indigent citizens at the grassroots benefited from the program.
Bello thanked the foreign partners TrippleA+, Mercy International and Gillead Qunatum Healthcare Systems, USA, for their unflinching support towards the realisation of the project.
The governor assured the partners of his administration commitment to continue to collaborate with them on life changing programmes in various sectors of the economy.
Earlier, the Project Facilitator, Prince Abdulkareem Onyekehi Suleiman, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Multilateral, Donor Agencies, Special Projects, said it was one of the various projects initiated by his office to attract foreign donors in partnership with Kogi Government on counterparts funding,
According to Onyekehi, the GYB Door to Door HealthCare Initiative is a special packaged medical outreach, targeted at the teeming indigent of Kogi citizens with varying health challenges”
Onyekehi, who doubles as the State Focal Person, National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), said that the initiative had engaged the services of top professionals in the medical sector from USA in collaboration with qualified Doctors in Kogi State.
This he said, was to ensure quality healthcare delivery to every needy person, providing full medication where necessary, surgeries, issuing consultancy, distribution of medical materials and other related services in the course of the programme.
”The medical outreach is being implemented by Kogi Ministry of Health in Partnership with American, Asian and African Investment Group (TippleA +), USA, Gillead Quantum HealthCare Systems, USA In collaboration with Mercy International Medical Outreach, USA.
”I wish to assure the general public that His Excellency will continue to partner with credible organisations home and abroad such as these to attract more benefits to the State,” Onyekehi said.
He commended the governor for the rare opportunity to serve, while thanking the Principal Consultant, Mr. Lawrence Kyuka of Coolinks Integrated Services Ltd, for believing in the programmes and policy thrust of the NewDirection administration of the governor.
”I want to equally commend our partners from the USA for their willingness to collaborate with the government in this vital project.
”To all my immediate team I thank you all for your cooperation, resilience and support for the current administration and total commitment to the GYB led Government.
”My special appreciation goes to the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Edward Onoja for his support and prompt drive to ensure the timely, effective and successful delivery of this project.
”I thank the state Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr Abubakar Ohere for his support and partnership for the success of this initiative, and the Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Audu and his team as the line officials for the implementation for this healthcare project.
”We have all demonstrated a true spirit of team work for the success of the NewDirection administration. I wish you all a very smooth exercise for the collective success as we embark on this project,” he said.
