The Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Monday Aridaojo Anyebe, has said that the 2025 commemoration of 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria, comes with renewed hope, renewed purpose and renewed commitment to national development .
The commissioner who stated this on Thursday at the 2025 June 12 Democracy Day Youth Interactive Session in Kogi state, noted that this is to ensure the building of a stronger, inclusive and more prosperous nation where the youth are not just beneficiaries, but drivers of development.
According Anyebe, the theme of this year’s celebration, “26 Years of Democracy: Renewing Our Commitment to National Development,” aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Today, as we commemorate 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria, we do so with renewed hope, renewed purpose, and renewed commitment to building a stronger, inclusive and more prosperous nation where the youth are not just beneficiaries, but drivers of development.
He noted that the agenda places a premium on youth empowerment, innovation, job creation, and inclusive governance, by ensuring that Nigerian youths are not left behind in national progress.
“From tech innovation to agriculture, digital economy to entrepreneurship, President Tinubu is intentionally creating pathways for the youth to thrive, contribute and lead.
“Here in Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is replicating and localizing this vision through his Consolidation and Continuity Agenda, with youth engagement and empowerment at its core.
“Since assuming office, Governor Ododo has consistently demonstrated commitment to uplifting young people through skills acquisition programs, youth inclusion in governance, sports development, and enterprise support initiatives. This interactive session is yet another reflection of that vision, a leadership style that listens, learns, and leads with the people.
“To our dear youths gathered here today from all across the state, this is your moment. Your voices matter. Your ideas are valid. Your future is being shaped not in isolation but through active engagement like this.
“I urge you to speak with confidence, listen with purpose, and leave here ready to play your part in securing and developing our dear state.Once again, I welcome you all to this historic event. May our democracy continue to grow stronger, and may our youths continue to rise as builders of a greater Kogi State and a better Nigeria.Thank you, and God bless.
