It was a state of pandemonium on Sunday night as robbery incident that occured at the Stadium hotel, Ilorin, Kwara state which allegedly claimed one life brought the hotel to a stand still as police pledged that the suspects would be apprehended.
According to eyewitness “The unidentified man feared killed, is a middle aged man who was one of the customers at the hotel located along Sultan road off Taiwo road Ilorin.
The eyewitness added that “The robbers numbering 5 all wearing black stormed the hotel at around 8:40pm this night shooting sporadically in the air, we all scampered to safety.
“They ransacked everywhere taking phones of customers, money among other valuables, we had to run inside the toilet to hide.
” When we came out after the robbery, we met the lifeless body of a middle aged man and the manager in a pool of blood. The manager was immediately rushed to the Ilorin General Hospital for treatment” he confirmed.
Meanwhile, while speaking with different newsmen on the development via phone, the Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Police command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi said ” said no life was lost in the bloody incident.
Mr. Okasanmi who said that the command had begun investigation into the robbery attack, promised that the suspects would soon be apprehended as three persons, which include the manager, barman of the hotel and one other were shot by the robbers, making them sustained serious injuries.
He added that the injured are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the metropolis.
However, When our Correspondent visited the hotel on Monday morning everywhere was deserted with no presence of staff, or security guards as the entrance gates was locked with a big padlock as some pieces of broken plastic chairs were seen inside the compound of the hotel.
