Some suspected kidnappers have Kidnapped four students of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja who were travelling to Ondo State.

It was gathered that the students are indigenes of Ajowa Akoko in Ondo State travelling home for Christmas break in a commercial vehicle before the incident took place.

Reports have it that the victims were adopted at gunpoint along Akunnu/Ajowa Road in Ondo State.

Sources disclosed that the driver of the vehicle, who is known as Momodu, was said to have been forewarned not to take the route notorious for kidnapping and robbery but ignored all entreaties.

It was also disclosed that travellers going northward preferred taking Akunnu/ Ikaram/Gedegede/Ajowa to avoid criminals who always carried out dastardly acts at the border town.

A former Vice Chairman of Akoko Northwest Local Government, Mr Ajayi Bakare resident of Ajowa-Akoko told newsmen that the driver of the vehicle, Momodu, was warned by the parents of the students not to take the route where the victims were kidnapped.

They were said to have promised to pay extra fares for him to take the safe route said to be farther than the other route.

Nevertheless, Mr Bakare disclosed that the kidnappers had called the parents of the abductees, demanding that N3 million be paid for each student before they could release them from their hideout.

They also demanded N4 million for the release of the driver of the vehicle, Momodu.
