A grassroots youth group in Kogi West Senatorial District has purchased the N20 million All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial nomination form in support of the re-election bid of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, popularly known as Mai Gaskiya.
The group presented the nomination form to the lawmaker, formally signaling his intention to contest for a second term in the Senate.
In his reaction, Karimi expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a strong demonstration of political goodwill, responsible citizenship, and active grassroots participation in the democratic process.
According to preliminary reports, the funds used to procure the form were raised through small contributions ranging from N100 to N3,000. Contributors reportedly included widows, farmers, traders, apprentices, and students across the district.
Karimi noted that the initiative reflects a growing sense of community ownership and participatory democracy among the people of Kogi West.
He emphasized that the gesture goes beyond financial support, representing a shared commitment to transparent, accountable, and people-oriented leadership aimed at advancing the collective progress of the district.
The senator added that his decision to seek re-election is driven by a desire to continue serving his constituents, while also expressing hope for divine guidance in the journey ahead.
Meanwhile, the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulieman Argungu, on Tuesday in Abuja, officially declared the sale of nomination forms open.
