The Peoples Democratic Party, have accused the Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello of breeding fake policemen ahead of Saturday general elections.
In a swift reaction the Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr. Kingsly Fanwo said “It is falsehood taken too far”.
The party also cautioned the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kogi state, Prof. James Apam of his alleged plans to compromise the forthcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections by substituting trained adhoc staff for preferred APC candidates.
This was contained in a statement signed by Idris Abubakar Lokoja, Chairman of PDP in the council which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday.
The Chairman expressed worries over the way and manner thugs were armed with guns and dangerous weapons to unleash terror on oppositions in the state.
He however accused the REC of given out the unclaimed PVC of the local government area to the ruling APC, describing the actions as a ploy to rig the elections.
Idris called on the agents in all the polling units of Lokoja not only to be vigilante of persons that would present the unclaimed PVC given to the APC by the REC, but reject such PVC, raise alarm and report to security agencies.
“We have it on a good authority that the adhoc staff replaced by the APC members have been directed to accept such PVC but we will resist such attempt.
“We equally frowned at the besieging Lokoja residence of former governor Ibrahim Idris on Friday by fake police and soldiers when leaders of the PDP were holding a meeting on the eve of the botched Presidential and National Assembly elections.
“As a political party and major opposition in the state we are worried by the fact that the fake police and soldiers were escorted out of the government house Lokoja by genuine policemen” the statement said.
However in a swift reaction, the Director General Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mr. Kingsly Fanwo said that it was falsehood taken too far.
According to him, PDP has reduced itself to allegations peddling party instead of campaigning as hard as the APC.
“APC under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello has campaigned hard across the state and we are confident of winning the elections convincingly.
“We won the Lokoja/Koto bye election convincingly, so we can understand why PDP is jittery. Our administration has served the people well and we know the people are determined to vote APC.
“The plan of the PDP is to distract us with their laughable and unintelligent lies,” he said.
