The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello over the weekend presented his nomination form to the stakeholders for blessing, as he expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their steadfast support for his administration.

The governor made the presentation over the weekend at Government House Lokoja while meeting with the supporters and stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Governor Bello who was full of joy acknowledging their doggedness and forthrightness in politics, the governor said he has no iota of doubt that the people would still vote for the APC, as the only party that protects their interest, in the forthcoming governorship election.

He described the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state as a party with only governorship candidates without members.

Governor Bello noted that the APC-led government has almost concluded modalities for rewarding its members, who will actively work for the victory of the party, and therefore urged the people to choose credible grassroots-based representatives that he would directly relate with to ensure accountability and transparency.

His words: “From what we have learnt in the past, we want to make sure that we reward those of you who work for the good of our party. I can assure you that going forward, the issue of ‘monkey dey work, baboon dey chop’ will not be allowed. We will do everything to discourage it.

“I will soon embark on a tour of our communities in this state, which will afford me the opportunity to take stock of what we have done for our people and the challenges left for us to tackle even though we know that no government will be able to solve all the problems of society. I will like to meet with your representatives directly because we want to do away with the issue of dealing with so many middlemen.

“Let me therefore call on you to choose truthful, credible and tested people that can work with us to produce good results for our party so that you can also reap the dividends of your labour.”

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Senator Smart Adeyemi, said their decision to support and rally round Governor Bello’s re-election was informed by his administration’s impressive performance.

According to Adeyemi, the state has not felt the impact of government as much as they currently do since its creation.

He pointed out that several development projects ranging from educational institutions, roads, health and other critical public infrastructures have been completed in all the nooks and crannies of the state.

Adeyemi, who assured the Governor of the people’s determination to work for him, expressed optimism that, all 21 local government areas will experience more government presence during the governor’s second term.
