Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo on Tuesday presented over 582 billion Nara 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly.
The budget which is tagged budget of “Inclusive Development”, was divided into the Recurrent expenditure of the sum of N279,590,,215, 687, 48.% and capital expenditure, N302,813,903,802 51.99% making a total of N582,404 ,119, 489.00 of the bill.
Governor Ododo noted that the budget was proposed to ensure reforms that will address the weakness in all sectors of the state’s economy.
He expressed hope that all the leaders will work together to end the ongoing crisis around the world.
He noted that his administration has developed a thirty two years development plan with the theme “Shared hope and prosperity”
Governor Ododo said the document is a comprehensive roadmap designed to transform Kogi State into a striving, inclusive and sustainable economy.
According to the governor his administration’s approach will continue to prioritize investments in youth empowerment, education, and infrastructure, following the legacies of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
He said his administration will strive hard to complete every single project in each of the 21 Local Governments Areas of the State
“The administration aims to ensure transparency and inclusivity in governance and encourages citizens to take ownership of the budget process” the Governor said
Earlier, the Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Umar Aliyu Yusuf in his speech said under the leadership of the governor, the House has continued to fulfil its legislative mandate through meaningful deliberations and the enactment of laws aimed at improving the lives of our people.
his words, “As we proceed with the process of passing the Appropriation Bill, I urge my honourable Colleagues to approach this significant task with sense of duty and purpose.
“We shall work together to ensure that the policies and programmes reflected in this budget contribute meaningfully to the progress and prosperity of our dear State.
“I call on the Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to cooperate fully with the relevant committees during the budget defence process.
“Your prompt responses and comprehensive engagements will facilitate a thorough and efficient review of the 2024 approved budget and passage of the 2025 proposed budget to guarantee successful implementation.
“In the last 17 months, we have every reason to appreciate you and Your Excellency’s predecessor, our Leader, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the former Executive Governor of Kogi State for the friendly support in ensuring good governance in our dear State.
We appreciate Your Excellency’s continued support to the House since your assumption to duty.
