About four hundred students have benefited for the Deacon Job and Mrs. Omada Onoja Foundation twenty million naira Scholarship fund. In Kogi State recently.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Emojikwu/Emagodo, Emochogwu–Ameh, Emagodo and Emorocho communities in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, schooling in the following institutions of learning : Kaduna Polytechnic Kaduna, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, KSU, Anyigba, and KSCOE, Ankpa. Others are College of Nursing, Obangede, Federal Polytechnic Idah, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Osun state College of Education and Federal University Lokoja among others
Addressing journalists, during the disbursement of the scholarship in Ofante Ogugu of Olamaboro Local Government Area, of Kogi State, Dr. Dan Itodo, Chairman Scholarship Implementation Committee, said the chairman of the foundation and financier of the scholarship scheme, Chief Ogwu James Onoja SAN Wants nothing in return but for the beneficiaries to be committed to their studies and be a source of pride to the community just like him.
Speaking further the chairman said “Today, love has so many definitions with varying degrees of interpretations but in all, true love is measured by sacrifice, the unconditionality attached makes the difference. Sacrifice that you give not because you expect anything in return from the beneficiary of your love.
“It’s in the light of the above truth that Chief Ogwu James Onoja, SAN (the Agenyi Attah Igala – Okoolo), Chairman of the Deacon Job & Mrs. Omada Onoja Foundation instituted the N20,000,000.00 Education Fund in honour and remembrance of his parent’s genuine love to support the needy in the area of education.
According to him, the take-off of this laudable humanitarian project was designed to start from the Chairman’s immediate community and later to others as they said “charity begins at home”.
He said to realize this, he inaugurated an independent committee of reputable elders and community leaders in December, 2018 to agree on the process of selection and present a list that will capture beneficiaries from every nook and cranny in Ofante, Ogugu of Olamaboro Local Government Area in Kogi State.
Speaking further, he said “the committee has already completed their assignment and the following students were successful and qualified to receive N50,000 (Fifty Thousand Naira) annually for the duration of their academic programmes, namely:
” The foundation would like to inform all the awardees that it expects nothing in return from the beneficiaries but sacrificial love when God in His mercies place them in positions to replicate the gesture to others in needs when the blessing of God comes their way.
“The Chairman of the Deacon Job & Mrs. Omada Onoja Foundation has always been engaged in community and humanitarian services within and outside his community. The most recent one is the rehabilitation of community roads which has brought succour to the villagers and motorists in the area.
“The foundation, as it disburses the fund to qualified beneficiaries in this phase, wish to congratulate them and call on others to engage in true love and not “a give and take kind of love” being practice by many today.
