The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic Idah at its 100 regular meeting have approved new appointments in the institution.
In a statement issued by the management of the institution on Friday and made available to newsmen in Lokoja, Dr. Olusegun Adepoju Onlyide is now the new Registrar of the institution and the appointment takes effective from the date of assumption of duty not earlier than 11th July, 2023;
Others are Mr. Abubakar Danladi Onoja as Acting Bursar, effective from 19th June, 2023; Engr. Dominic Opaluwa as Director, Physical Planning effective from the date he assumes duty; and Mr. Ukwenya (Mr) Enebi Christian as Acting Director, Directorate of Procurement with effect from 1 June, 2023.
The Rector of the institution, Dr. Yahaya Baba Usman on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of the Polytechnic, congratulated the appointees on their appointments.
He also enjoin all staff and students to give them necessary cooperation throughout their tenures for the continued growth and progress of the Polytechnic.
The appointment is for a single tenure of five years from the effective date.
Dr. Olusegun Adepoju Oniyide who was born on 24th January, 1965, hails from Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
He started his formal schooling from Egbado South Local Government School, Ilobi, Ogun State from 1971 to 1976 where he had his First School Leaving Certificate. From 1981 to 1984, he attended Ogun State College of Education, ljebu- Ode, Ogun State and graduated with NCE in History/Christian Religious Studies. He attended University of Ilorin, Kwara State, from 1989-1993 and had his B.A. Ed. in Education/Social Studies. Also, from the same University he had his M.Ed. in Educational Management in 2001 and Ph.D in Educational Management in 2022.
He joined the services of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa Kwara State in 1995 as Admin. Officer II and rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Registrar in July, 2011. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Human Resources and Strategic Management of Nigeria and a member of other professional bodies which include Foundation for African Development through International Biotechnology, Nigerian Institute of Management, among others.
Dr. Oniyide has attended many conferences and workshops and published some scholarly papers to his credit.
Mr. Abubakar Danladi Onoja was born on the 16th August, 1962. He is a native of Idah in Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He started his formal education with St. Boniface Primary School, Idah from 1970 to 1975 where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He then proceeded to St. Peter’s College, Idah, from 1976 to 1981 and got his General Certificate in Education (GCE).
He obtained his National Diploma (ND) in Accountancy in 1988 and Higher National Diploma (HND) in 1992 both from the Federal Polytechnic, Idah. He also obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy in 2002 from Enugu State University of Science and Technology Enugu, Enugu State.
He also has two master’s degrees which are MBA with option in Accountancy in 2012 from Benue State University, Makurdi, Benue State and M.Sc. Accounting in 2016 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.
He joined the services of the Polytechnic in 1981 as Clerical Assistant (Accounts) and rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Accountant in 2008.
Mr. Onoja has served and headed various units of the Bursary and also in different capacities on various committees across the Polytechnic.
He is a Fellow of the Certified National Accountants of Nigeria (fcna) and also a member of the institute of professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria (IPMA).
In addition, he was an Ag. Bursar of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny,
Rivers State, while on sabbatical leave, from 2018 to 2019 and has attended various national and international conferences and workshops.
Engr. Dominic Opaluwa was born on 10th December 1972. He hails from Idah in Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He started his formal education with Omepa LGEA Primary School, Igalogba, Idah from 1978-1984 where he had his First School Leaving Certificate. From 1984 to 1990, he attended Government Technical College, Idah, where he had his Craft Training Certificates.
In 1995, he obtained his National Diploma (ND) in Civil Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic, Idah and Higher National Diploma (HND) also in Civil Engineering in 1998 from Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State.
He later went to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Bauchi State, where in
2010 he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Civil Engineering.
He joined the services of the Federal Polytechnic, Idah in March, 2001 as Higher Technical Officer and rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Engineer on 15 January, 2019.
Engr. Opaluwa is a bonafide member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and Nigeria Institute of Engineering Management (NIEM) and has executed sundry construction or civil engineering projects to his credit.
Mr. Christian Enebi Ukwenya was born on 25th December, 1979 and he hails from Idah in Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He is a holder of National Diploma (ND) in Financial Studies from Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja in 1998 and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic, Idah in 2001.
He joined the services of the Polytechnic as Accountant II in April, 2003 and rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Accountant on 1st January, 2019, after which he had a lateral conversion to the position of Chief Procurement Officer on 1st
January, 2020.
He is a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (cna)
